A recently published study was responsible for finding: Increased intake of dairy products can help prevent diabetes and high blood pressure. Therefore, milk, cheese, and yogurt are not only delicious, but also promote health benefits.
In the United States alone, the country that led the analysis, more than 30 million people have been diagnosed with diabetes. In the case of blood pressure, approximately half of the adult population has high blood pressure. Therefore, health professionals are looking for ways to improve the treatment of both problems.
Dairy versus diabetes and hypertension
Scientists at Hamilton and McMaster University Health looked at more than a thousand patients from different locations to understand the possible positive effects of consuming dairy products. In total, people from 21 countries, ranging in age from 35 to 70 years, were analysed. All of them had their medical history evaluated.
Finally, they conclude that higher dairy consumption is associated with a lower risk of metabolic syndrome, a group of conditions that increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.
However, it is important to note that the dairy products considered in the study were milk, Greek yogurt, and cheese. Sour cream and butter are not analyzed.
